What made you decide to explore and apply for your employer’s donation?  What made you think JLG would be a good fit? Giving back to the community and volunteerism is one of KPMG’s core values and we have a few great programs in place to help employees tap into firm resources.  Back at the start of the year, KPMG advertised a new Community Impact Grant Program and encouraged employees to submit applications for non-profits with which they are involved.  I love the JLG and – especially in my role as Treasurer – understand how big of an impact corporate grants and employer matching can make to our long term financial sustainability.

What did the application process require?  Would you consider doing it again the future?  The application process took about 10 minutes.  I was asked to provide some specifics about the JLG (see below for pointers!), describe my role and experiences with the organization, and highlight some of our programs.  I had a lot of fun finding pictures of past Touch a Trucks and other events to upload with my application (pictures weren’t required, but our events are so fun, that I felt compelled to share!)

Have you discussed or looked into any other opportunities for JLG funding with your employer? At present, my firm only matches contributions made to higher education institutions, but I keep tabs on things and am always thinking of ways to bring KPMG and JLG together!

Any advice for members whose employers offer similar programs?  Take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with your company’s offerings and don’t be afraid to ask questions!  Most companies have some sort of a budget set aside for charitable giving and enjoy making an impact in their communities.  Check with your HR manager or poke around your company’s internal website; employer match and charitable grant information is likely housed on your company’s HR portal.

If you’re interested in applying for a grant or employer match, you might be required to provide some information about the League.  Here’s a quick cheat sheet to help you complete your application:
