Cherise Jones Honored As

2008-09 Kathleen Price Bryan Award Recipient


GREENSBORO, N.C.- Cherise Jones was named the 25th recipient of the annual Kathleen Price Bryan Award by the Junior League of Greensboro Monday. Each year the League recognizes a member who demonstrates tremendous dedication to both the JLG and to the community at large. The award, first presented in 1985, is given in memory of and to honor Kathleen Price Bryan, founds of the junior League of Greensboro in 1926. The recipient exemplifies the standards set by Mrs. Bryan in the generous giving of herself to our community.

 

Jones joined the League in 1999 and has since held numerous internal and external placements, including Placement Committee Assistant, Placement Advisor, 75th Gala Committee Individual Solicitation, Nominating Committee Member, Domestic Violence Task Force Member, Nominating Chair, External Planning Researcher, Champion Coalition Committee Member, Training Chair, Personnel Vice-President, Internal Planning Committee Member, Designer Showhouse Volunteer Co-Chair, External Planning Signature Project Liaison and HQ Relocation Coordinator.

In addition to her dedication and commitment to the JLG, Jones is an active community volunteer. She is the Membership Coordinator for McIver PTA, an At-Large Board Member for the Autism Society NC Guilford Chapter and the Board Chair for the Mariposa School for Autism.   She is also mother to an 8-year-old daughter, Claire, and wife of 19 years to Walt Jones.

The Junior League of Greensboro has contributed over $3 million to the community in its 83-year history, with more than $2 million contributed in the last 10 years.  This year over 260 Junior League volunteers will help to meet our community’s needs by serving in excess of 12,000 volunteer hours.  The Junior League of Greensboro is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.  The purpose of the Junior League is exclusively educational and charitable.   For more information about the Junior League of Greensboro, Inc., please call 336.852.5542 or visit our web site at www.juniorleagueofgreensboro.org.
