Junior League of Greensboro Announces Headquarter Completion and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
GREENSBORO, NC – The Junior League of Greensboro, Inc. (JLG) proudly announces the completion of its new Headquarters with a Ribbon Cutting ceremony on Monday, September 8, 2008. After a year-long renovation of the historic Albright House, the JLG is a permanent property owner for the first time ever.
To mark the special occasion, the JLG has invited all Past Presidents, members of the Benjamin family, and other special guests to participate in the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 5:30pm. Following the ceremony, the home will be opened for tours. The JLG will hold its September Social and Membership Meeting, at 6 and 7pm respectively, with emphasis on our Community Project Food Assistance. Additionally, the JLG will host Sustainer members at an Open House on Tuesday, September 9. Move in date is set for September 12, with the house being completely furnished after the Fall High Point Furniture Market.
Starmount Company, guided by the generosity of the Benjamin Family, gifted the JLG the entire parcel of land surrounding the Albright House located at 3101 West Friendly Avenue. The agreement stated that approximately one acre of land, as well as the Albright House, would be used for the offices of the JLG. The City of Greensboro Parks & Recreation Commission voted unanimously to recommend that the city of Greensboro accept the remaining land for a park and to name the park after Blanche Sternberger Benjamin. In May 2008, the JLG gifted the property for the park to the Friends of Greensboro Parks and Recreation Foundation.
Celebrating its 82nd year, the Junior League of Greensboro, Inc. will contribute over $85,000 to area programs and place over 250 Junior League volunteers serving in excess of 15,000 volunteer hours to help meet community needs.
